How do I know which peptide actually fits the goal I want to improve?

Updated: 2026-09-09 · Basics

Short answer

Start from the goal, not the peptide. Write down what you want to change and by when, look at what has been studied for that exact goal and at what evidence level, and drop anything supported only by cell or rodent work. Often the honest answer is that nothing has enough support yet.

In plain English

  • 1. Write the goal as one concrete, measurable sentence.
  • 2. Look that goal up in the library and read the evidence level, not the marketing.
  • 3. Ask what happens if it does not work: if your plan depends on it, the evidence should be strong.
  • 4. 'Nothing has enough support' is a legitimate answer.

What we know

  • Evidence levels differ enormously between peptides, from approved drugs to purely preclinical compounds.
  • The best-supported goals today are metabolic (GLP-1), not cosmetic or recovery goals.

What we don't know yet

  • There is no reliable way to predict an individual response to a peptide.
  • Head-to-head human comparisons between peptides for the same goal are rare; one exception is the trial comparing tirzepatide with semaglutide in obesity.
