Can GHK-Cu help with hair loss?

Updated: 2026-09-09 · GHK-Cu, skin and hair

Short answer

Copper peptides have been proposed to influence the hair follicle environment, which is why they appear in hair products. But the clinical evidence specific to hair loss is limited and not comparable to approved alopecia treatments. Calling it a solution for hair loss would run ahead of the data.

In plain English

  • It appears in shampoos, serums and scalp lotions.
  • Hair loss has very different causes: hormonal, nutritional, inflammatory, scarring.
  • Without a diagnosis, any product is a blind attempt.

What we know

  • There is scientific interest in copper's role in the follicular cycle.
  • Regulator-approved treatments exist for androgenetic alopecia; GHK-Cu is not one of them.

What we don't know yet

  • Direct clinical evidence for GHK-Cu alone in alopecia remains insufficient: it does not support a claim of a clinically meaningful change in hair density.
