Quick answer
BPC-157 is a "gastric pentadecapeptide": a chain of 15 amino acids related to the stomach. It is one of the most studied peptides in animals for repairing tendons, muscles and gut [BP2]. 250 mcg daily. This regimen is community-reported, not a validated clinical dose or a medical recommendation.

How it works
Picture a construction site in a torn tendon. Fibroblasts are the builders who bring the materials. BPC-157 helps them reach the site sooner and hold up better on the job. In cells, it did this by activating the FAK-paxillin pathway, which lets the cell "grip" and move forward [BP1].
What the research says
Most of the evidence is in animals and cells: tendons that heal better in rats [BP2] and more active fibroblasts [BP1]. In humans there is a small retrospective study, without placebo, on knee pain [BP3].
Animal studies
Consistently show better healing of tendons, ligaments, muscle, and gut tissue.
In humans
Only small studies exist. A sports medicine review cites a study where 7 of 12 people with chronic knee pain felt relief for over 6 months after one injection — promising, but a very small sample.
Safety
No harmful effects reported in animals, but no long-term human safety data.
Status
Not FDA approved. Banned in professional sports (WADA, NFL, UFC, NCAA since 2022).
In the media / in the conversation
BPC-157 is very popular among athletes and in the sports medicine and biohacking community. Its popularity led to it being banned in professional sports (WADA, NFL, UFC, NCAA) since 2022. Sports medicine reviews acknowledge its potential but warn that human evidence is limited — a good reminder to look at the data, not just the hype.

What's most reported
- In rats with a severed Achilles tendon, tendon healing improved in both strength and appearance [BP2].
- The same paper reports that BPC-157 had been tested in clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease, under the code PL 14736 [BP2].
- In rat tendon cells, it increased their growth, survival and migration [BP1].
- Of 16 people with knee pain treated at a clinic, 14 (87.5 %) said they felt relief [BP3].
Common side effects
Well tolerated in studies; sometimes mild nausea, dizziness, or injection-site reaction. (Remember: no long-term human safety data.)
How it's typically used
There is no approved human dose, nor one tested in placebo-controlled trials. This is what has been published: in rats, doses calculated per kilo of body weight [BP2]; in people, injections into the knee at a clinic, with no standard regimen described in the abstract [BP3]. Animal doses do not translate directly to people.
Community-reported use
250 mcg daily. This regimen is community-reported, not a validated clinical dose or a medical recommendation.
Combines / does not combine
Pairs well with TB-500 for recovery. Banned in athletic competition.
Compatible
- TB-500Listed together in the educational stack “BPC-157 + TB-500”. Cada uno tiene estudios sobre todo en animales [BP2][TB1]; de la combinación solo hay un estudio retrospectivo de rodilla con 4 personas [BP3] y ningún ensayo controlado en humanos.
Avoid
- BPC-157 + TB-500 (blend)BPC-157 + TB-500 already contains BPC-157. Using both doubles the dose without you noticing.
- GLOW (blend)GLOW already contains BPC-157. Using both doubles the dose without you noticing.
- KLOW (blend)KLOW already contains BPC-157. Using both doubles the dose without you noticing.
Frequently asked questions
Because it is a 15-amino-acid peptide related to the stomach; that is how its researchers describe it [BP2].
Only a small knee study, without a placebo group [BP3].
